The world premiere of the play “Zgarište” will be held on August 31 in the cinema hall in Bosanski Novi/Novi Grad, starting at 19:00 h. Authors of text for this play are Iva Obradović and Slobodan Drljača. Andrej Drljača is the director of the play and Jan Ris was in charge of the poster. The cast consists of two actors; Bojan Umićević and Elma Crnkić. Composer of the incidental music for this play is Faruk Mehić.
Play depicts life of Lazar Drljača (1882 -1970) prominent painter from Bosnia and Herzegovina. His aesthetic credo was initially expressionism but later he turned to impressionism. He lived in big cities such as Vienna, Rome and Paris, but he later returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was considered a (last) Bosnian Bogomil. In 2010, a stećak (tombstone) that was made for him and placed on his grave, thereby fulfilling his last wish to be buried as a Bogomil. In the play we will see scenes from Lazar’s young life in France up to the greatest tragedy when most of his works are burned or irretrievably lost.
